I have always loved sugar cookies. They just make me happy! At Christmas time every year I would bake premade dough and slather cream cheese icing over them and of course I had to add sprinkles on top. (The ones with the teeny tiny different colored balls) One day I started watching cake decorating shows on the Food Network and I have been hooked ever since. I am fascinated by cake decorators and the beauty they create. I have always loved color and art and I enjoy watching people work their magic on a blank cake. My mother in law, Patti, and my husband, Michael, began buying cake decorating supplies. Patti and I decided to start decorating sugar cookies for family get togethers and we LOVED every minute of it. We said "we would enjoy doing this all day long".
One day I just decided that we were going to start a business from my home. I have 2 boys and I can be with them and adjust my schedule to their needs. We immediately started trying out sugar cookie and royal icing recipes. Family, friends and co-workers began taste testing for us. We are very happy to have settled on a great homemade sugar cookie recipe and homemade royal icing recipe that some have said is the best tasting sugar cookie they have ever put in their mouth!!! (YAY)
We had our cookie so now we needed a company name. My husband came up with "The Pink Panda". We have an adoption underway for a little girl from China. We have been waiting several years already and it will be at least a couple more. Chinese names and ideas have been in our hearts ever since the adoption has been in process. We have a cat named Buddha so why not name a sugar cookie business "The Pink Panda?"
After deciding on the name "The Pink Panda" I wanted to get some business cards printed. I call a friend of mine named Karrie Drake to see where she has her cards printed for her photography business. She makes me the incredible offer of creating my own Pink Panda Logo and a completely personalized business package. I am so excited with the designs she created. She is such a creative and artistic person and combine that with a wonderful heart and you couldn't ask for a sweeter person. She sent me this artwork of my logo and I now have it hanging in my kitchen. I LOVE IT and will always be grateful for what she has created for me.At the moment we are all about the sugar cookies being custom decorated with royal icing but we hope to branch out into other flavors of cookies and icings. Also Patti makes WONDERFUL caramel cakes. She currently has a full time job but one day she will join me in creating deliciously homemade goods. It is our goal for our cookies to taste as delicious as possible. Then we want them to be equally as beautiful.
